The friendships that survive this path — and the ones that don't

No one warns you that choosing this path will quietly reshape your friendships. Some will deepen in ways you never imagined. Others will fall away. Both are okay.
When you choose solo motherhood, you're also — without quite meaning to — choosing a new way of being in relationship with the people around you.
Some friends will rise. They'll text on the hard days. They'll show up with soup. They'll ask the real questions and stay for the real answers.
Others will go quiet. Not because they don't love you — but because your life now asks something of them they don't know how to give.
Both can be true at once.
It's easy to take the silence personally. To assume you've done something wrong by choosing differently. You haven't.
You've just outgrown a version of your life that doesn't fit anymore. And the friendships that belonged to that version sometimes can't make the journey with you.
In their place, something new begins to form. Women you meet on this path who already understand. The friend of a friend who has done it. The stranger online who messages you at 2am and somehow says the exact thing you needed to hear.
This is your new village.
It's smaller, often. Quieter. But it is yours — chosen by you, for the life you are actually living.
